How to Craft a Convincing Copy on your website?

The key difference between a storyteller and a narrator is that a storyteller engages the audience, drawing them into the content rather than losing their attention. That's exactly what your website copy should do—capture and hold the reader's interest. Here are few ways to do the same.

  1. Be Authentic

Many small business owners before you have offered the same service—there are many yoga teachers and many nutritionists. But they aren't you, and you can't offer what they offer. So, forget about trying to be original and focus on being authentic. Your website content should reflect the real you, as though it's you speaking, not a chatbot.

2. Be Precise

Yes you need to share your story, but not bore you audience. Keep it light and to the point. The way to convince someone about something is to not be pushy about a topic. Don’t force people to buy your service, walk them through your service. Make it like a demonstration of what you offer. Like a show home presentation but in words.

3. Get Creative

You don’t have pick words from a thesaurus to explain what you offer. Write the way you would type in on google to find a service. Keep it simple. Your clients are humans and they are looking for help. So how can you creatively explain what you do. That can also be your tag line. Example; I am not just a Website Designer, I am also a Digital Architect of your Brand.

4. Get Personal

We don’t want people to have a box of tissues when they are on your website. But a healthy amount of vulnerability is what you need. Giving examples of failures isnt a sign of weakness. It’s infact a sign of strength and courage. Not a lot of people can start a Business but you have, so be proud and flaunt about yourself and may be some struggles in your business you overcame.

5. Speak to your Niche

Your business website is not a place where your friends will hangout, so don’t care what they will think of you. Think of what your Ideal Client will like to hear. Think of the language they speak in and speak to them in that language. No one is going to judge you for your content. Your Website Copy is your chance to be authentic so don’t hold back on the if’s & buts of doubts.

6. Ditch the Problem - Pitch the Solution

Imagine you are a Dentist and everyone knows what happens in the clinic. Most of the patients are afraid to go to a Dentist. So how will a Dentist convince a patient to come to his clinic? One way is by telling what problems he solves and the other way is targeting on the emotions of a patient. How will you want them to feel- write you copy based on emotions. How will your clients ‘FEEL’ after working with you?

7. Write to a Toddler not a Teenager

Imagine you have to give information to a Toddler. Now the toddler needs step by step directions on what to do next. If you had to give instructions to a teenager in writing they probably wont even read. Your website copy has to be in detail and like a guide to a toddler. Mention everything that you offer. Don’t assume they know things. Explain in a way your service is sold without selling your soul. Be clear and keep the communication precise as mentioned above.

8. Hire Help

I know you want to write the Copy of the Website on your own and thats the reason you are here. But if you reach a point where you just feel like giving up them hire help. See if your Website Designer can help you with Website Copy rather than hiring a Copy Writer. This way you have a compelling copy and a converting website.
