HOW TO SHOW UP ON SOCIAL MEDIA WHEN YOU AREN'T MOTIVATED?

Lack of motivation often arises either because you aren’t passionate enough about the project or because you lack direction regarding where you want your business to go.

Imagine you’ve been running a business for years, but you make sales only once a month or once every couple of months. What do you think is the real problem with the business strategy? In my opinion, there is no strategy! This is exactly what happens with social media—you often don’t have enough posts or don’t feel like posting because you don’t know what you want from social media for your business. So, what is the real strategy here?

So, how do you show up when you aren’t motivated? Have a strategy in place that allows you to schedule posts and have content ready for days when you don’t feel like showing up. Your strategy will show up for you.

  1. Have a Content Calendar

  2. Make B-rolls of yourself working and have at least a few clips ready with captions to post on the days you don’t feel like it.
Set monthly goals for what you are going to post on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. For example, you could plan to post 4 reels, 2 posts, and 1 carousel a week.

  3. Show up on Stories this can be a picture of what you are doing or something personal—behind-the-scenes content, or a sneak peek into your life or business.
What story is your page telling? What is your business story? Your social media should clearly reflect who you are and what you value.

  4. Genuine connections only, gone are the days of influencers and celebrities showing off their lives. Who do you connect with on your Instagram page? Think about what you like about their life. How did you connect with your favorite Instagram personality? How can you help someone else?

  5. BTS (Behind The Scenes) The real magic happens behind the scenes, so why not show that? Often, we focus on picture-perfect stories and curated feeds, which are pretty (and I love those designs on a page), but how can you share the magic that drives you on your feed?

  6. Don’t follow trends if they don’t resonate with who you are. A sustainable business plan is one that aligns with your values. Your social media page should be an extension of you because if it’s not, burnout is inevitable. So, only share what you like and what you feel comfortable with. Your boundaries on social media should not be violated by trends.

  7. Create more than you consume if you don’t feel motivated to post, it might be because you’re comparing yourself to others. Maybe it’s time to stop checking out competitors! Instead, dive deep into the community you serve and spend time reading comments from your consumers or potential clients.

  8. Let them judge, don’t let other people’s opinions cloud your vision. There’s a first time for everything: the first post, the first client, the first failure. What’s really keeping you from big wins is your lack of showing up and doing the actual work. Start small, go at your own pace, and focus on quality over quantity when it comes to posting.s
